With these routines I've taken squatting to the next intensity level. Latino is done using Dumbbell's and Latina we use Kettlebell's. We start our warm up with a Latin dance routine for one dance track and then move into an extended squat session. Depending on the fitness level of the group the squat might be anything from 15 to 30 mins.
A great class with attitude! Let the funky Latino squat class raise your heart rate. If you're looking for a fun, high-energy and alternative cardio workout, then this is the class for you. All levels of fitness and coordination welcome.
We then go into our recovery mode with another Latin dance routine which could be Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha or Merengue for one music track. We then move into another extended squat routine for 10 to 15 mins. If time permits we'll repeat the process.
Working with Dumbbell's and Kettlebell's provides a great total body workout. Burning calories and shredding all the major muscle groups from our upper shoulders and back (trapezius muscles), mid shoulders and upper arms (deltoids), arms (biceps, triceps), chest (pectorals), abdominals (upper, lower and obliques) and upper back, (latissimus dorsi and rhomboid muscles).
Squatting is a lower body workout using body resistance, when Dumbbell's are added that increases the intensity. Starting with the lower back (erector spinae muscles), upper legs (quadriceps & hamstrings) and lower legs (gastrocnemius, soleus & tibialis anterior muscles). Combining squats with Dumbbell's and Kettlebell's creates an instense total body conditioning routine that can be adapted for all fitness levels.
